About Uncle Ray
Ray Corderio, as known as Uncle Ray by all music lovers in Hong Kong, was born on 12 December 1924. He first started his career as a clerk in Hong Kong Bank in 1946, shortly after he graduated from St. Joseph's Colleage. In 1949, Uncle Ray made a move to join Rediffusion as a script writer and later was promoted to the rank of a DJ. The very first program hosted by Uncel Ray was called "Progressive Jazz".

In 1960, Uncle Ray joined Radio and Television Hong Kong ("RTHK") as the Head of Light Music. He stays with RTHK ever since.
Milestones in Uncle Ray's career
Uncle Ray attended a 3 months BBC course in Britian in 1964. He interviewed the Beatles twice in Britian and then in Hong Kong. Altogether, he had interviewed the Beatles 3 times in his lifetime and just once would be the dream of any DJ.

In 1970, Uncle Ray led a group of Hong Kong's top bands to perform at the 1970 Osaka Expo and was found to be the most well-attended event in the Expo. He started his longest broadcast radio program in Hong Kong, "All The Way With Ray" in the same year.
Uncle Ray's another radio program "Lucky Dip" was recognized as one of the most important and most popular radio shows in Hong Kong's entertainment business that helped to create the music scene of band sound in the 60's and 70's featuring some of the most popular singers and bands of that era. Names like Joe Junior, Teddy Robin and the Playboys, Irene Ryder, Roman Tam and the Four Steps, Sam Hui and the Lotus.
In 1987, Uncle Ray was awarded the MBE by Her Majesty the Queen at Buckingham Palace, London.
In December 1997, during RTHK's launch of 70th anniversary of Broadcasting in Hong Kong, Uncle Ray was bestowed with "THE LIFE-TIME ACHIEVEMENT IN BROADCASTING AWARD" by one of his favourite pop idols, Paul Anka.

In 2000, Uncle Ray was awarded Guinness World Records the World's Most Durable DJ. Uncle Ray's RTHK show "All The Way With Ray" has been broadcasting for more than 30 years since 1970! Yes, Uncle Ray is breaking the records every night now!
